I wanted to share my experience with this little gadget. I purchased it for backpacking. I figured it was lighter than carrying fuel for a mini stove and didn’t cost anything to fuel it since all I needed were a few sticks to boil water or heat up a meal. I put it next to bananas and my inReach for size comparison.
I haven’t backpacked yet, but I did pull out the solo stove on multiple occasions now while camping. Instead of building a large fire and paying $5-$7 for firewood I would pick up some sticks, or even pick left overs left in the firepit at my site and start a fire in my solo stove.
It was very surprised how easy it was to start a fire, and how nicely it burns. It used it as a heat source for a couple nights and cooked on it twice.
I really like it!
The one I have is the 2nd from the smallest size I believe, but they also make them larger for use in the backyard as a fire-pit. They are pricey but well worth it.
