My mom and I visited Glacier first week of July, 2018.
The experience was absolutely astounding. I still go to Glacier’s web cam page every other day to peek at this park’s beauty.
The first few days we stayed at Fish Creek Campground, which is located just a few miles north of Agpar Village and the Visitor Center. The campground was basic with no hooks ups, but very peaceful and beautiful. There were fire-rings and picnic tables at each site.
We enjoyed the nearby hikes and activities.
We enjoyed huckleberry ice creat from Eddie’s Cafe in Agpar Village, and short hikes and bike rides around the lake.
First we took Lake McDonald Trail
Next was Avalanche Lake hike, which was a amazing!
Of course Logan Pass and was next, so we hopped on the shuttle bus and enjoyed the ride up.
When we arrived it was 38 degrees and SNOWING! Yes! Snowing on July 2nd. Good thing I had rain jackets, rain pants, hats and under-layer in my pack. Always be prepared when it comes to hiking in higher elevations.
Next portion of the trip was in East Glacier area – Two Medicine Lake.
We only stayed there for 1 full day, but what a memorable day it was. The hike up was pretty strenuous for someone like me, but I will only get better with time.
St. Mary area was next on our agenda. The campground was very different from the other ones in the part. It was very open with low vegetation and less privacy.
St. Mary Falls and Virginia Falls was the only hike we completed in this area. One needs way more than just a few days at this park to really explore. I plan on going back in Summer 2020.
Boat ride on Lake St. Mary was epic. the view of the mountains and glaciers and surrounding forests, some still recovering from 2013 wildfire.
