After spending a month in Chicago I came back to Livingston and after a few days started to work my way towards Corpus Christi. First stop was Brazos Bend State Park. It was our first time there and we didnt know what to expect.
The park was absolutely beautiful.
The first spot I picked turned out was directly under a beautiful tree, but I didnt want to drain my batteries (powered by solar on my roof) so i reqeusted to be moved to an emty site just a couple sites over.
That worked out fine, it was a huge sunny and grassy site. As usual I pulled out my Clam so I can sit outside in the evenings without being eaten by mosquitoes or burned by the sun during the day. Turned out mosquitoes were not bad, maybe it was still too cold for them.
The park had many hiking/biking trails. So of course Aesop and I had to venture out on an adventure. I keep forgetting Aesop’s age, he can’t hike like he used to. I have to find loop trails because he refuses to turn around just wants to keep going and then he’s too exhausted or too stubborn to walk back.
Here are the pictures from our hikes during the stay at Brazos Bend.
There are so many birds in this park! I took a long bike ride at sunset and it was the most amazing experience.
We ran into an alligator on the trail, it was unexpected and caught us completely off guard. I was aware there are 250 alligators in the park, and saw them in the water, but stumbled upon this big boy sunbathing directly next to the hiking path. We were too far on a loop trail to turn around, with less than 0.5 mile from the parking lot, we proceeded to carefully walk around the alligator.
But this guys was scary, I wonder about Aesop’s vision because I’m 100% convinced Aesop didn’t even notice him at all, not even as we passed him.
But outside the alligator incident we had a grand time. We enjoyed the park even in the fog.
Here are some edited pictures just for fun. One day was very gloomy so I decided to make gray skies pink.
Until next time Brazos Bend…
